HRF’s Social Explainer Videos

I lead HRF’s social explainer series, turning complex human rights reporting into clear, engaging stories for digital audiences.

Building on an existing foundation, I’ve shaped the series into a more consistent and repeatable format, refining its voice, strengthening its narrative structure, and developing a templated graphic system that keeps the visuals cohesive while allowing flexibility across topics.

I carry each video from concept through distribution, including research and scripting, activist interviews, archival sourcing, filming, and editing. The focus is always on translating dense, often overwhelming information into something clear, structured, and compelling.

Each video is intentionally designed for social-first distribution, adapting these stories into short-form, platform-native content that meets audiences where and how they’re consuming information.

The series has become a core part of how the organization communicates, using video to bring clarity and narrative to issues that might otherwise feel distant or abstract.

Beyond Borders

Beyond Borders was a three-day activist retreat led by the Human Rights Foundation’s Chinese Communist Party Disruption Initiative (CCPDI), bringing together young diaspora leaders targeted by transnational repression to build skills, resilience, and collective power.

I co-produced the video strategy for the event, shaping how the retreat would be documented and translated into compelling, story-driven content. This included developing concepts for each video, working closely with the communications team to balance emotional, personal storytelling with the program’s grant requirements, and ensuring we captured every key beat of the program.

Ahead of the event, we coordinated outreach to activists, participants, and speakers, conducting pre-interviews to understand their experiences and identify strong narrative threads. On the ground, we hired and worked with a local videographer to film and interview participants, capturing firsthand accounts of repression, resistance, and community.

In post-production, I edited a recap film centered on participant stories and the impact of the retreat, translating an intimate, closed-door gathering into a piece that resonated with a broader audience. The video gained significant traction on social media, going viral on Instagram and extending the reach of these activists’ voices beyond the room.

2026 Oslo Freedom Forum Promotional Video Campaign

For the 2026 Oslo Freedom Forum promotional campaign, I built a social-first video series designed to capture what it feels like to be on the ground during the forum. Drawing from footage and interviews I produced across previous events, I shaped the creative direction, scripted the text, selected imagery, and structured the narrative of each video.

Once the framework was in place, I hired and directed an editor to complete the final cuts, overseeing the process through delivery. The campaign significantly increased audience engagement and ticket sales, translating the atmosphere and importance of the event into something that resonated on our digital channels.

2025 Wear Your Values New York Fashion Week Campaign

Wear Your Values is a public awareness initiative examining the fashion industry’s links to forced labor and human rights abuses within global supply chains.

For Fashion Week 2025, I developed and produced a street-based video campaign designed to engage everyday consumers in conversations about ethical fashion. As producer, cinematographer, and editor, I led the project from concept through final delivery. I developed the creative approach, wrote the interview prompts, captured all video and audio, and edited the pieces for digital release.

Shaped with my understanding of social media trends and platform-best practices, I built the campaign around the high-performing street-interview format, translating HRF’s messaging into a space social audiences already engage with.
